Apple Macintosh Forerunner Apple Lisa TV Demonstration from 1984!

)

Recorded in 1984, this computer, which sold for $10,000 dollars by the way, was as mentioned in the title, the forerunner to the Macintosh.

In fact, the OS has A LOT in common with the first version of MacOS, and thus, much in common with today's GUIs.

The Computer Chronicles: UNIX (1985)

It's 1985. AT&T's computer operating system is threatening to take over IBM's MS-DOS dominance.

Today, Linux powers the Android OS which is the dominant mobile OS on the market. It also powers the internet itself. It powers 95% of the worlds supercomputers and all (but one) of the worlds stock exchanges which national economies depend on. Linux is widely used by Google, IBM, Cisco, NASA and the US DoD just to name a few. Unix and the C language on which it was built are the foundation for everything we use today including Apple and MicroSoft.

But back then it was a bit of an enigma. How did this OS from the 1960s stack up against MS-DOS?

Once again, we spotlight another episode of Pasokom Sunday, this time dedicated to the top 10 games... of November... 1987... in Japan.

Some real interesting choices... including an adventure game called J.E.S.U.S... never heard of it before... wonder if it has some sort of analogue here.

パソコンサンデー - Pasocom Sunday - Japanese Vintage Computer Show - Gradius - 新製品登場! パソコン新時代

God I love the Internet! And specifically, I love archive.org! A plethora of fantastic things, and the fact that they had THIS was beyond incredible!

What you are looking at here is a 1986 episode of the Osaka TV broadcast of Pasocom Sunday, a show that talks about all manner of subjects related to computers. This particular episode covers Gradius and other topics.

Of course, an understanding of Japanese will help you get the most out of it, but even if you don't have that, any fan of old Japanese TV will get there fill... commercials, a wacky intro, old video game footage, etc!
